BIOGRAPHY

I was born in Sturgeon Falls, in Northern Ontario.  My parents were teachers.  After going to elementary and secondary school in West Nipissing, I completed my studies at the University of Ottawa, at the Sorbonne-Nouvelle (Paris III) and at the University of Toronto where I obtained my Ph.D. I ran the Théâtre la Catapulte, a member company of La Nouvelle Scène, before joining the faculty of the University of Ottawa.

Today, in addition to teaching theatre, I am the special advisor on Francophonie to the Dean of the Faculty of Arts with a mandate to support the Francophone community at the University of Ottawa, in Ottawa and throughout French-speaking Ontario.

Among my accomplishments, I was a member of the steering committee that helped build the original Nouvelle Scène on King Edward Avenue and led the project to build the LabO on Waller Street that today houses the University of Ottawa’s BFA in Acting Program, in conjunction with the expansion of Arts Court and the Ottawa Art Gallery. I am also very active in helping racialized artists and women better integrate into the professional theatre community.

Above all, I am the proud father of a daughter who attends a CEPEO primary school.
