Candidat – Trustee Zone 9 Conseil des écoles publiques de l’Est de l’Ontario (CEPEO). É.É.P. Louise-Arbour É.É.P. Marie-Curie

Our children’s education is at the heart of my interest in serving as a trustee. My goal is to support everyone who is willing to work to make our schools welcoming to all and dedicated to excellence in all its forms.  To achieve this for my child and yours, I have four priorities:

Parental Involvement: Parents are the most important allies for children, teachers and principals.  I will prioritize broader consultation within CEPEO as well as greater transparency so we can ensure broader support from our community.

A Strong and Multifaceted Francophonie: Enriched by their diverse backgrounds, families are the cornerstone of our school board.  We must support parents in their efforts to teach French to their children and help Francophile family members to feel more comfortable using French in family life.

Inclusive Schools: All families must have their place in our schools, regardless of their background or socio-economic status.

Health and Safety: Ontario's Education Law is clear. CEPEO must prioritize the well-being of its students at all times. As we manage the challenges of the pandemic over the long term, it is important to learn from past choices and do better in the future.

SPECIFIC CHALLENGES FOR WARD 9 SCHOOLS

 École publique élémentaire Marie-Curie

It is essential to continue the efforts underway to encourage social harmony among students. We must also find ways to provide reasonable access to French language public secondary schools, none of which are presently near Marie-Curie.
 École publique élémentaire Louise-Arbour

It is important to ensure that the announced new school building meets the needs of a growing downtown franco-ontarian community.  It is unacceptable that in its present building Louise-Arbour is forced to refuse students due to lack of space.
